KNOW YOUR CABLES AND WIN A Wii!

This competition has now closed.

To celebrate the launch of the online information resource on fire performance cables specifically developed for people working in the fire industry - www.fpcables.co.uk - Prysmian has teamed up with FSE to offer three lucky readers the chance to win one of the following great prizes:

  • a Nintendo Wii games console (1st prize)
  • an Ipod Touch 8GB (2nd prize)
  • an Ipod Nano 8GB (3rd prize)

Offering quick and easy access to detailed technical and product information, Prysmian’s FP website www.fpcables.co.uk provides clear guidance for all those specifying and working with fire performance cables and accessories. An FAQ section addresses the most common questions about product performance, applications and installations but if any further assistance is required in selecting or specifying cables, you can also contact Prysmian’s technical team via the website.

If you’ve ever wondered about the kind of rigorous tests fire performance cables undergo to ensure that they comply with British Standards you can now see for yourself. Featured on the website is video footage from Prysmian’s fire testing facility in Bishopstoke, which shows cables being tested for fire resistance including fire, water and impact tests.
Fabulous prizes to be won: A Nintendo Wii games console (pictured above); an Apple Ipod Touch (8GB) and an Apple Ipod Nano (8GB)

Specification made easy
When selecting a fire performance cable for a given application, specifiers are faced with many decisions to ensure they choose the most appropriate system that complies with all the relevant standards and regulations for their project.

The www.fpcables.co.uk website provides a quick guide to the typical applications of each of Prysmian’s FP cables, with more detailed information including approvals, installation notes and technical selector charts included within the individual product datasheets.

All Prysmian FP cables are third party approved and the relevant certification can be downloaded from the website. Responsible manufacturers would warn against installing fire performance cable that is not compliant with British Standards or approved by a third party such as BASEC or the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB). It is important to choose cables that hold these certifications to ensure that a high quality cable is consistently manufactured. Often building or maintenance officers require copies of these certificates on building completion. Again, Prysmian makes this easy by providing the latest copies of certificates for cables in the FP range for download from the website.
